Review: Vital Herbs

Boulder Vital Herbs can be found at 2527 1/2 Broadway near Ideal Market and the boulder valley Hospital. They are open M-F 11-6 and sat-sun 11-5.

Quality: Vital herbs helps a lot of people, as a result, their marijuana inventory is constantly changing. The proprietor grows lots of high quality buds but his regulars are quick to snatch them up. The stuff that I saw was of good quality but it was easy to tell that his stock had been depleted. The long week of helping people had made Saturday a bad day to show up. The owner said that about every second Monday the store is restocked. I did see two strains that were pretty nice however, the Grape Ape and the Train wreck were both very nice.

Prices: The prices are very straight forward and very reasonable. $15/g for everything and if you are a member eighths are only $40 and for non-members they are $50. A nice feature is that they pay the taxes for you regardless of your membership status.

Quantity: They sell in grams, eighths, and ounces and they will sell as much as you are legally aloud to carry. While I as there they only had about 12 strains but they usually carry 15-20.

Extras: Vital Herbs has a whole refrigerator full of edibles. They also carry pre-rolled joints as well as tinctures and hashish. If you have trouble getting around Vital Herbs has your back as they will bring the buds to you with their delivery service.

Overall: Vital Herbs is definitely a mom and pop shop with a lobby that kind of resembles a mechanics office. Lobbies don't get you medicated, pot does and theirs is Colorado grown and pretty good with a really high turn-over rate. The man in charge is very friendly and straight forward and I do believe he actually cares about his patients and really wants to help people. They don't have the nicest lobby or the best marijuana but I felt very comfortable at Vital Herbs.

Ranking: Vital Herbs gets 6.5 green thumbs.

Review: The Greenest Green

The greenest green is located in boulder at 2034 Pearl St. These extremely friendly folks are ready to ease your pains from 10 in the morning to 10 at night everyday of the week including Sundays.

Quality: Greenest green carries about 20 to 30 strains of good to very good quality. They had a Nectarine that was nice and well priced. I saw very delicious looking Pot o' Gold that was also well priced. Overall the quality of the strains was very good but some of the buds were a little aged. Once they a get a coupe new harvests in the bag appeal of the buds should get much better.

Prices: The prices here don't seem to represent the quality of the buds. I saw a very nice Nectarine that was very well priced at $15/g after tax. All of the listed prices are factored after tax which I really like in a dispensary especially because most are cash only. The Pot O' Gold I saw was a fairly priced $17/g after tax but I also saw a Master OG that I thought was of similar quality as the others and I was surprised to see that it carried a $23/g price tag.

Quantity: Grams, eighths, and half ounces are the preferred doses of the greenest green but they seem to have large quantities of many different strains.

Extras: The greenest greens is all about the extras. They carry some extremely impressive cold water bubble hash for 4 a gram. They also have one of my favorite products ever; acetate THC or commonly known as Honey Oil. I have not seen this product at any other dispensaries and I was elated when the owner asked me to try some in the store, thats right you are allowed to smoke acetate and vaporize meds in the store. The contraption they use to smoke the acetate is the one of a kind and must be seen to believe. The only way to explain it is a bong that incorporates a knife hit type of system instead of a slide. Honey oil is very dangerous to procure thus very rare. The acetate goes for 25 bucks a quarter gram and packs an unbelievable punch for heavy medicating.
Another cool extra that the greenest green offers up is their free black metal jar with purchase. If you bring the jar back you get 10% off of your purchase every time, helping the planet and our wallet. The GG also carries tinctures, clones, edibles and ice cream.

Overall: I am a big fan of the whole young hip vibe of the place. If you want to see all of the strains before you buy you can sit by the bar and sniff nugs til' your hearts content. The bar is a cool spin on the viewing area, and after you sit at the bar you walk up to the window and place your order. The GG has an open, friendly feel with very modern, suave decor that makes you feel like you are in a nice bar. The extras that the Greenest Green have set them apart from the acetate to the recyclable jars this dispensary is a very cool experience.

Rating: The Greenest Green gets 8 green thumbs.

Review: Boulder Medical Marijuana Dispensary

This not creatively named dispensary can be found in a seedy motel at 2111 30th street suite A, right next to Raas Kasa in Boulder. They are open from 11-7 M-F and 12-5 on Saturdays.

Quality: The overall quality of the buds was good. There were two excellent strains that I found one being the Tangerine Green and the other being the Bubble Gum. The rest of the meds were good but nothing to write home about.

Prices: The prices at the dispensary are very reasonable at 15/g 50/3.5g and 100/7g. Unfortunately they don't do any price cuts on ounces but this is a smaller boutique type of set up and they don't carry a ton of any one strain.

Quantity: The dispensary has plenty of good marijuana and they do carry 20 strains at a time. They sell in larger quantities but like I mentioned before they don't cut prices so you are better off going somewhere else for larger needs.

Extras: Peanut butter, taffy, capsules and tinctures can all be purchased at the dispensary and all of them seemed to be high quality products. The dispensary also had probably the nicest looking hash I have seen. It was cold water bubble hash that looked and smelled out of this world and at only $25 a gram it is kind of a steal.

Overall: The dispensary is the epitome of the boutique dispensary. I mentioned that it is located in a seedy motel, well it is but the insides couldn't be any less seedy. A massive remodel was done to the space which allows for a nice open atmosphere. Probably my favorite part of the dispensary is the viewing room. Every dispensary has a room where they keep their meds, but not like this. Their viewing room has no case at all. Instead the jars are just sitting out on shelves and the patient is free to peruse the buds at their own leisure. The staff wasn't exactly nice but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they were having an off day. Regardless I still really liked the place and would certainly go back especially because of the prices and the Hash.

Rating; The dispensary gets 6.5 green thumbs.

Review: Dr. Reefer

On the Hill at 1121 S. Broadway there is a set of stairs that will take you down to the home of Dr. Reefer. Dr. Reefer is open from 10-10 but in certain cases they may close a little earlier.

Quality: Doctor Reefer has some very nice buds. He had about four to five strains that I would consider connoisseur grade marijuana, which is more than most. Overall he had a very nice collection from top to bottom, every bud was well grown, cured and dried. I saw a very nice Bubba kush that matches up to most of the top tier strains I've seen.

Price: Dr. Reefer is the most expensive dispensary that I have been to thus far. Many of the buds that I saw exceeded the 20/g mark. I saw a 15/g Super Jack jar that was pretty decent and very unique as it was completely white, not because of crystals but because the plant material was white, regardless I felt it was not entirely worth 15/g. The prices get higher and higher, the Bubba Kush I mentioned earlier goes for $30/g with a limit of 2 grams per customer per a day. I also saw a Shiva Northern Lights that was very nice but at 25/g I don't think I would be inclined to splurge.

Quantity: Dr. Reefer sells their buds in grams straight up with no price cuts, and not every strain can be purchased in large amounts. Dr. Reefer sells a large assortment of strains, about 20-25 all in all.

Extras: Dr. Reefer is a teacher also as he gives grow lessons for a hundred dollars a class. like most places he sells an assortment of hash, tinctures, salves and all kinds of products. Edibles range from $6-$16 and include all different types of dessert food. He has a pretty amazing deal going right now that is if you make a purchase you get a free clone. This is a very interesting offer as most of us are not equipped to start growing but it is still a cool deal.

Overall: Dr. Reefer is located in a very unique space. For one it is a huge basement office with many unused rooms. The store part of the dispensary is very big and open and actually contains big live marijuana plants, which I thought was cool. Overall the building is a little strange as it has an unfinished basement feel to it. The owner is shooting for the boutique feel with his prices but he is not achieving this with the space. Atmosphere and decoration go a long way in establishing the boutique setting and Doctor Reefer has missed out on that aspect. At the end of the day Dr. Reefer is the fun house of dispensaries, there is a lot going on with live plants and grow classes and a huge open, kinda creepy space. The fact of the matter is you always leave a fun house wondering if it was really worth the price of admission.

Rating: Dr. Reefer gets 5.5 Green Thumbs out of ten.

Review: Top Shelf Alternatives

Recently I stopped by Top Shelf Alternatives at 1327 spruce street suite 300, in boulder. As of January 18th they are open from 11am to 8pm every day. It is kind of a hike up to the third floor but I do believe they have an elevator.

Quality: TSA carries a wide variety of buds and products, they pretty much have something for everyone. Some of their wide selection included some extremely delicious strains, one of which is the haze-wowie. I had a chance to smoke some of this delicious medicine. At first glance the pot is covered in crystals and smells terrific, and after smoking some I still feel it is a top notch strain around here. The taste was outstanding and the smoke was very smooth, the high was all-encompassing and very potent. I also took a look at some of their other prized selections. One that stood out to me was the Colorado Cabbage. It was a very electric green and covered in trichomes. The other buds in the store averaged from average all the way up to the very nice haze-wowie

Prices: TSA offers up some of the best prices around. The Haze Wowie was a bargain at fifteen dollars a gram. In fact all of their top shelf buds are 15/g and then their second tier nugs are 12/g and then the lower echelon are 10/g. I smoked a pretty good ten dollar gram called orange blossom and at ten dollars a gram it certainly did the trick.

Quantity: TSA carries an impressive 35 strains with a goal of about 70-80. TSA sells their buds in grams all the way up the line, and they carry large portions in most of their meds. Unfortunately they don't do any price cuts but their bud is so low in cost it doesn't really matter.

Extras: TSA has a wide assortment of extra goodies like edibles, ice cream, salves and tonics. They also carry a large stock of very nice looking hashish. The hash prices out from 15-35/g and ranges from good to excellent.

Overall: I liked the professional atmosphere of TSA and their friendly staff seemed knowledgeable and very helpful. I am very excited about their prices and I would certainly purchase my own meds from them. All of their buds are grown in the state of Colorado and range from good to great. I really like how big they have gone and the range in caliber of the buds. If you want to smoke a huge joint but don't want to spend a lot then their ten dollar grams are perfect. If you are like me and you only smoke a couple times a day then their 15/g top shelf is perfect. One thing to consider is that like most dispensaries you may be in for a wait before they let you back into the bud shop. All in all I was very impressed with TSA and I can't wait to smoke more of their delicious strains.

Rating: TSA gets 7.5 green thumbs

Review: The Boulder Green Society

Today I made my way over to the boulder green society. The green society is a boutique style dispensary with a cool and casual environment. The Boulder green society is located on the South West corner of 16th and Spruce In Boulder in a cozy cottage style house. The young and attractive staff is there to help you from 10-7 everyday and they are even open on sundays from 12-5 (much respect).

Quality: The overall quality was good. I did see one magnificent specimen which was the Indiana Bubble Berry (18.50/g). The bud was a rich green and covered in crystals, and the smell was very potent and a little citrusy. The rest of the buds were good but not amazing.

Price: The buds might have looked better if the prices were a little lower. The meds ranged from 15/g-20/g and 300/oz-440/oz. I saw a hash plant that cost 20/g it looked pretty good but it did not smell great and it was not totally covered with trichomes which I like to see on a $20 gram. I saw a $15 thai lights that was of pretty decent quality but again probably a little pricey for what it was. The green society does offer different specials each day like free joint friday, which is nice to see from a smaller operation.

Quantity: The amounts were marked in terms of grams, eights, and ounces. Kudos to the smaller club for selling larger amounts at a bit of a price cut. They also sell marijuana sodas, Ice cream and Hashish.

Overall: The atmosphere is nice and hip like any good boutique shop. They did not make me wait long as they served multiple customers at a time which allowed for an open and friendly atmosphere. I love the way these folks approach the business and I understand the high prices are a compensation for the boutique atmosphere.

Rating: The Green Society gets 6 Green Thumbs.

Review: The Farmacy

Today I wondered into the Farmacy on walnut and 8th in Boulder.
This fledgling company is not entirely up an running but they do have some products. The goal for the company is to become a boutique dispensary offering high grade marijuana on a small scale. The owners are also opening a full scale large dispensary on 28th and Valmont, keep posted for the opening and more info.
The space they currently occupy on walnut is very nice and very open. The Business is still in its infancy but they do offer up three different style marijuana drinks. One is a chata and the other two are coffee flavored. The kind and friendly staff at the Farmacy have gone out of their way to do all the necessary testing and they even have nutritional facts on the bottle. I was lucky enough to try the chata version. The product was quite delicious and it tasted much like a chai tea. One bottle is three medical servings and each bottle goes for $14.95. I drank a little bit less than 1/2 of the drink and I was pretty medicated. My girlfriend does not medicate very frequently and she caught a healthy buzz off just a couple sips.
I would recommend the use of the beverage as it is a delicious way to medicate especially if you prefer edibles instead of smoking. It is not only easy to use but very tasty, I haven't tried the coffee flavors as I am not much of a coffee drinker but I am sure they meet the standard that their chata has set.

Welcome to MMJ Dispensary Directory

Hello, My name is Andy and I am creating this site to keep the Medical Marijuana patients of Colorado informed about dispensaries. I will be chronicling the medical marijuana industry, more specifically the dispensaries, as I write reviews and spotlights on all of the medical marijuana dispensaries in the state of Colorado.
I will be reviewing the dispensaries in four key areas: The Quality of the Marijuana, the Quantity in which they provide, the price of the meds and lastly the overall vibe and nuances of the dispensary as well as their hours of operation.
This is going to be a comprehensive sit in which you the patient can see what dispensary is right for you and which aren't. I look forward to serving the community and please feel free to comment if you have additional insights on a dispensary.
The reviews will work in two parts. I will go in to the dispensaries and conduct my reviews. To ensure that these places aren't putting up a front I will be sending an anonymous friend to each dispensary. Between the two of us we have a collective 25 years experience in dealing with marijuana cultivation and quality inspection.
I am pleased to present to you the dankest site on planet Chron.
